Our founder
Alex Pham is the founder of Palmetto & Pine, driven by a lifelong respect for the small businesses that sustain our country. The son of Vietnamese refugees, he grew up hearing stories of hard work and resilience—lessons that shaped his deep appreciation for the men and women who dedicate themselves to building something lasting for their employees, customers, and communities.
Alex’s career spans operating leadership roles, investing, and partnering with business owners to pursue long-term growth. From advising infrastructure firms and investing in private companies on behalf of the World Bank to expanding critical services for hundreds of customers, the throughline of his work has been a commitment to creating economic opportunities. He has worked across multiple industries including energy, logistics, and technology, always focused on sustainable impact. Through Palmetto & Pine, Alex is dedicated to helping business owners protect their legacy, invest in their people, and ensure a thoughtful transition.
He lives in Matthews, NC, with his wife and two children. In his free time, he enjoys training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and Washington Commanders, and playing the occasional round of golf.

Our name reflects the history of the places that shaped us. Palmetto trees, found along the coasts of Florida up to the Carolinas, thrive in tough conditions—standing strong against hurricanes, salt air, and even cannonballs— a symbol of quiet resilience. Pine trees, have grown tall and steady for thousands of years across the Blue Ridge Mountains down to Texas. Their deep roots and deliberate growth reflect the kind of lasting strength that defines a great business.
Our name reflects the journey of those who have built something lasting—much like the business we will partner with. It’s also a nod to the generations before us, who worked hard to create opportunities and a future worth preserving.
